DPN Treatment

Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra (DPN) is a benign skin condition characterized by small, dark, mole-like lesions. These growths typically appear on the face, particularly around the cheeks and eyes, as well as on the neck, chest, and upper back. Affecting both men and women, DPN lesions can vary in size from 1-5mm and range in color from light brown to black. While often confused with moles, skin tags, or freckles, DPN lesions have a distinct smooth, dome-shaped appearance.
This condition is most prevalent in individuals with darker skin tones, particularly those of African, Latin American, or Asian descent. DPN has a strong genetic component and often runs in families. Various factors influence the development and progression of DPN, including genetics, age, hormonal changes (especially during pregnancy or menopause), and sun exposure. The condition typically begins to manifest in the mid-twenties, with lesions increasing in both size and number as a person ages. DPN is frequently associated with seborrheic keratosis (SK), another benign skin growth that shares similar characteristics but tends to be larger and more varied in appearance. While neither DPN nor SK poses health risks, many individuals seek treatment for cosmetic reasons.
Our specialized treatment for Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra (DPN) and Seborrheic Keratosis (SK) is designed to address these common skin concerns effectively and efficiently. I can also address sun spots, skin tags, cherry angiomas, broken capillaries, and milia.
Treatment Process:
-
Each lesion is individually treated using precise high-frequency technology
-
The session is timed for exactly 60 minutes from the start of your appointment time. There is 15 minutes designated for consultation, paperwork, questions, and cleansing. 15 minutes is designated for numbing, and 30 minutes of treatment time. So, if you arrive late, that will cut into your treatment time.
-
During this time, we aim to treat as many DPN and SK lesions as possible.
-
A 2-week follow-up appointment is included where I will examine the area and we will discuss next steps.
Important Notes:
-
Due to the thickness of the lesions, multiple appointments may be necessary.
-
Due to the time constraint and the number of lesions present, multiple appointments may be necessary for comprehensive treatment.
-
The number of lesions treated per session can vary based on their size and location
This focused approach ensures that we can provide thorough care while managing treatment time effectively. We recommend discussing your specific needs during a consultation to determine the optimal treatment plan for your skin.
